Local Advisory Board

Our Local Advisory Board (LAB) represents Kingshurst Primary School, its pupils and its families. Members of the LAB are known as advisors.

Kingshurst is part of Prosper Together Multi Academy Trust. The Board of Trustees holds overall responsibility for the trust and its schools. Each school has its own LAB, which works with the Trustees to support and challenge school leaders.

What the LAB does

  • Promotes high standards, so every pupil gets a good education and is well supported
  • Supports and challenges the Headteacher and senior leadership team
  • Brings the views of parents, staff and the local community into the school's work
  • Reports to the Board of Trustees

The LAB meets five times a year: twice in the autumn term and three times across the spring and summer terms.

Who is on our LAB

We have six advisors:

  • four co-opted advisors, appointed by the LAB for their skills and experience
  • one parent advisor, elected by parents and carers
  • one staff advisor, elected by school staff
  • the Headteacher

We currently have 1 vacancy for a parent advisor

Diversity

A diverse board makes better decisions. We regularly collect diversity information from our advisors and use it to:

  • target recruitment where there are gaps in experience and diversity
  • adapt how the board works so everyone can take a full part
  • prioritise training in the areas which need it
  • seek wider advice and perspectives on opportunities, challenges and risks

We do not publish this information because, on a board of this size, individual advisors could be identified.
