At Kingshurst Primary School, the safeguarding and welfare of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where all children feel valued, respected and protected. We recognise that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and work closely with pupils, families, staff, governors and external agencies to ensure that every child receives the support they need to thrive.
Our safeguarding arrangements are guided by the principles set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), the statutory guidance issued by the Department for Education. We are committed to ensuring that all adults who work with our children understand their responsibility to safeguard and promote children's welfare, identify concerns at the earliest opportunity and take appropriate action to keep children safe.
We promote a strong culture of vigilance across the school, where children are encouraged to speak to trusted adults if they are worried and where staff act quickly and professionally on any concerns. Through our curriculum, assemblies and wider pastoral support, we help pupils develop the knowledge and confidence they need to stay safe both in school and beyond, including when online.
If you have a concern about a child or need safeguarding advice, please contact one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs):
In addition, Sophie Greenaway (Assistant Child and Family Support Worker) and Miss Brattle (Acting Assistant Headteacher, EYFS lead) may work with families.
The Designated Safeguarding Team leads on all safeguarding matters within the school and works closely with staff, families and partner organisations to ensure that children receive the help and protection they need.
We believe that effective safeguarding relies on strong partnerships. We work proactively with parents and carers to support children's safety, wellbeing and development. Where concerns arise, we may work alongside a range of external agencies to ensure that children and families receive appropriate support.
These agencies may include:
Sharing information appropriately and working collaboratively with partner agencies enables us to provide timely support and safeguard children effectively.
If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child, please contact the school immediately and ask to speak to a member of the Designated Safeguarding Team. If you believe a child is at immediate risk of harm, you should contact the Police on 999.
Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do, and together we can ensure that every child is safe, happy and able to achieve their full potential.
