Early Years Reforms

In 2018 the Department for Education (DfE) proposed changes to the early learning goals and the assessment process within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

On 31st March 2021 the DfE published the final Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage which comes into force from 1st September 2021.

Early years foundation stage The early years foundation stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of your child from birth to 5 years old. All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes.
